Mike and Starla

Mike Chaves moved to Leucadia and started attending Beacons Bible Church in 2014. He and his wife, Starla, have been married since 1992, and they have three adult children.

Mike spent six years as a youth pastor in Rancho Cucamonga, California, and another five years as a missionary planting a bilingual church in Playa Dominical, Costa Rica.

In 2020, after the passing of Pastor Steve Barke, who served at Beacons for over 28 years, Mike stepped in as interim pastor and was commissioned in 2021 as Senior Pastor.

I have been a member of Beacons since before my wife and I got married 21 years ago.  We have 2 children…

Nick Ericson

My family and I enjoy being a part of the Beacon’s church family. My wife Tina and I are proud of the fact, all of our children participate here. My son, Reed, leads the music group on Sunday and is active in the youth group.  I am available to assist any member with their spiritual needs. I welcome all new members.

Simon Poon

I have been coming to Beacons Bible Church since 2015.  My wife, Kimberley and I were looking for a small close-knit church and we found it here.  I have been blessed to be working with the Youth Group and I help the Sunday morning service with Audio Visual.  Earlier this year, I became an Elder.  I’m available to any member needing my help.

Justin Cunningham

Living just down the street, back in 2006 my wife and I thought we’d attend a service here and at the end they said they needed a bass player . What a  blessing; I’m still here praising Him with His children!

Our Church Government

Members covenant together to share of their time, talent and treasure for the building up of Beacon’s as their home church (Luke 14:25-35; Titus 2:11-14). Members are expected to strive to live a biblical lifestyle and obey the laws of the land and avoid any life choices that could damage the reputation of the church in the community. Members vote for the Pastor and elect Elders, who serve three year terms on the Session. The Pastor and the elected Elders form the Session, which is the governing board of the Church. The Session is charged with maintaining the spiritual government of the Congregation.

Our Session Board is represented by the following:

Mick Zentic, Nick Ericson, Justin Cunningham and Simon Poon

and our Pastor who acts as Moderator
